Many episodes of each of the Star Trek series have spawned sequels and story continuations in the form of books and comics. While some are direct sequels to the episodes, some simply take characters or ideas and extrapolate further adventures for our crews. One of the most prolific Star Trek authors currently at work is Dayton Ward, having written or co-written more than 35 books and short stories in the Star Trek universe.
In this episode of Warp Five, hosts Floyd Dorsey and Brandon-Shea Mutala are joined by Dayton Ward to provide an audio commentary for the Enterprise second season episode "Carbon Creek," which introduced us to the character of Mestral, who would become important in three of Ward's novels.
