Warp Five: A Star Trek Enterprise Podcast
90: I Love Lucy Is Definitely Canon

Enterprise Season Two, Part One.

When most fans name their favorite year of Enterprise, seasons one, three, or four often tops the list. However, season two delivers excellent episodes that address continuity and topics that stretch across all of the Star Trek series. So, why is the NX-01's sophomore outing so often overlooked?

In this episode of Warp Five, hosts Floyd Dorsey and Jeffrey Harlan are joined by Continuing Mission host Dennis Castello to analyze the topics and situations that really stand out in the first half of season two.

89: I’m Gonna Fudge It a Little Bit

Reconciling Enterprise Inconsistencies.

Why did the Borg appear on Enterprise? How could the Romulans have cloaking technology in the 22nd century? Did the NX-01 seem more advanced than the 1701? These are just a few of the things that many Star Trek fans cite as continuity problems surrounding the missions of Captain Archer and his crew. Could there be simple explanations that make it all fit together?

In this episode of Warp Five, hosts Floyd Dorsey and Jeffrey Harlan are joined by Star Trek Horizon creator Tommy Kraft to explore in-universe explanations that might just make Star Trek's prequel series a bit more palatable.

88: Daleks and Tholians, Oh My!

Enterprise/Doctor Who Crossover.

What if Star Trek and Doctor Who had a crossover TV event? What would that look like? Who would we see? What channel would carry it? Surprisingly, this was actually an idea that Russell T. Davies, former show runner of the British series Doctor Who, mentioned in a 2009 interview.

In this episode of Warp Five, hosts Jeff Harlan and Floyd Dorsey are joined by Daniel Proulx and Phillip Gilfus of Earl Grey to tackle the combination of Enterprise and Doctor Who. We discuss what it might look like if Archer met the Doctor, what we would like to see, and create a three-episode arc on the fly for good measure!

Warp Five 86: Phlox Steals This One

Enterprise Season One: Two Guys Walk Into a Bar.

You’ve probably heard a joke that starts with the line, “Two guys walk into a bar…” But when they visited Risa, Tucker and Reed actually lived this joke! The end of Enterprise's first season finally gave the crew a chance to get some shore leave, but they had to navigate more than a few bumps along the way. These unexpected detours included investigating a shipwreck, getting thrown into an internment camp, and finding themselves in the thick of the Temporal Cold War!

In this episode of Warp Five, hosts Floyd Dorsey and Jeffrey Harlan are joined by Tommy Kraft to discuss not only the conclusion to Enterprise Season One, but also for a final update before his Enterprise-era movie, Star Trek Horizon, premieres. The group also discusses the themes in the final seven episodes of the first season as they applaud finally seeing an “alien” alien, explain how Phlox stole an episode, and more. Plus, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country makes a guest appearance that nearly takes over this episode of Warp Five!

Warp Five 85: To All the Girls He Loved Before (Or At Least Knew)

Enterprise Season One: To Help or Not Help.

While Tucker and Reed tried their best to find out if one bottle is really enough, the latter half of Season One tested Captain Archer with some very difficult decisions. More and more often, we began to see that the human morals and ethics the NX-01 crew brought with them didn't always serve them well as they encountered strange, alien species more frequently.

In this episode of Warp Five, hosts Floyd Dorsey and Jeffrey Harlan are joined by Mike Morrison of Meta Treks as they discuss the themes of the latter half of Enterprise's freshman season. Listen in as they debate the life-and-death decisions of Captain Archer, try to explain how a rogue planet might have green vegetation, and promote what could be a great two-man play.

Warp Five 84: Kicking in Doors and Stepping on Toes

Enterprise Season One: Making New Friends.

How do you know when you may be in over your head? In Season One, it didn't take long for the NX-01 crew to find themselves exposed to situations and troubles they had never considered. Simple acts like visiting a monastery, exploring a pre-warp society, or simply saying "Hello!" quickly showed the crew that they may not be as prepared for the unknown as they thought.

In this episode of Warp Five, hosts Floyd Dorsey and Jeffrey Harlan are joined by Norman C. Lao as they cover the themes found in the second quarter of Enterprise's freshman season. Listen in as they talk about what happens when you step in the middle of a centuries-old political argument, finally find an inhabited M-class planet, try to bring some order to the frontier, and find out the guy who brings you your eggs actually knows a whole lot more about you than you thought.

Warp Five 83: Space ... The Final Frontier

Enterprise Season One: The Early Missions.

Just how do you create a prequel to a universe as fleshed out as Star Trek? The challenge that faced the writers and producer's of Enterprise was not an easy one. The first season tried to lay the groundwork for Starfleet's very first outing into deep space and to place the Star Trek future must closer to us, to something that we could actually relate to. What worked? What didn't work? Was it the "prequel" that fans were expecting? In this episode of Warp Five, hosts Norman Lao and Will Nguyen are joined by Floyd Dorsey, Mike Morrison, and Jeffrey Harlan for an in-depth look at the very beginning of Enterprise, focusing on the first six episodes of Season One.
